South Florida
For a master-planned community in South Florida, REGEN evaluated potable water, wastewater, and reuse as one water-resource system rather than a set of phase-by-phase decisions. The inherited plan sized tanks, pump stations, and treatment systems independently, using a conservative national storage standard that would have triggered costly offsite utility improvements and delayed the project, all while the site’s location within a Basin Management Action Plan area added nutrient-reduction obligations to the permitting path.
REGEN designed and permitted a 0.5 MG ground storage tank and booster pump station using a Florida-specific storage basis, cutting footprint, water age, and capital cost while removing the need for offsite improvements; delivery moved from proposal to operation in under twelve months, with FDEP, county site-plan, and building approvals granted on first submittal with no review comments. For wastewater, REGEN designed a phased membrane bioreactor facility sized to reach the community’s 0.9 MGD full buildout without redesign at each phase, configured for future conversion to Advanced Wastewater Treatment standards as growth triggers change, and supported the client’s state grant application to help offset the added cost of reuse.
